Choosing a whole foods, plant based vegan diet is actually NOT a diet at all. It is a way of life. Being vegan means freedom; pure, luscious, delicious freedom from dieting and yo-yo weight loss. Being vegan means you are living life with a moral compass. Being vegan means you are living life with compassion. Being vegan means you are living life in alignment with your core values of empathy, mercy, love and compassion towards all living beings. Going vegan for just one year you will save approximately 365 individual lives! Sadly, in our modern agricultural food system, animals are viewed as commodities, rather than living, breathing, sentient beings who all feel love, loss, sadness, fear, anxiety, sorrow, joy, comfort and happiness. Animals are treated as machines expected to turn a profit and the bigger the profit, usually, the more horrifically they are treated and killed.

Choosing a diet full of nutrient rich plants will help you ward off chronic diseases and keep you svelte for years to come. Roughly 387 million people are living with diabetes and according to the International Diabetes Federation, that number is expected to soar to nearly 600 million by 2035. Plenty of research suggests that type 2 diabetes is entirely preventable by switching to a whole foods, plant based diet. More research shows that a diet loaded with fruits, veggies and whole grains can lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, lower chances of developing cardiovascular disease, decrease obesity rates and people who average 8+ servings of fruits and vegetables per day are 30% less likely to have a heart attack or stroke. The health benefits of a plant based diet are limitless.

Saving animals and your health are not the only benefits of adopting a plant based lifestyle, saving the planet is one of the top 5 biggest challenges facing our world today. Each animal that grinds through the factory-farm system greatly harms the environment by producing methane, the primary driver of climate change, which heat-trapping effects are even stronger than those of CO2. Beef and dairy cattle produce more global carbon emissions than the entire transportation sector! 8oz of soy milk takes 16 gallons of water to grow. 8oz of beef takes 850 gallons of water to grow! That quarter pound burger you ate this week is worth more than 30 average American showers. A plant based eater consumes 200,000 fewer gallons of water than a person who eats the average American diet. It is time to greatly reduce animal product consumption and go plant based if we want to have a planet for our children to grow up on.
